All three Editions share a common interface and have a huge overlap in function and capabilities.

All three are extremely powerful, optically accurate 3D worlds in which you will previsualize your film, tv show, commercial or similar project.

All three can create striking imagery and help you sell your vision to investors, producers or other departments on the project.

And all three can help you solve problems before you get on set, improve communication between departments in ways you never thought possible, and save you time and money in a huge number of ways.

FrameForge® Previz Studio 3.5
enables you to work in an optically-accurate, Virtual Film Studio right in your computer.
This Virtual Film Studio can handle both interiors and exteriors with equal facility, allowing you to prep virtually any room, location or environment that your project demands.

Within this Virtual Film Studio you can:
  • Choose any aspect ratio
  • Mimic the optical properties of any camera
  • Optionally limit the camera to a zoom range or a prime set
  • Easily build and dress sets or locations
  • Add Actors and customize them to create real characters
  • Have your actors interact with any props and each other, often with only a single click
  • Add any number of virtual cameras to the set
  • Prepare shots as if you were actually on set or location, looking through the camera you’ll be shooting with
Furthermore, you’ll have full control over your camera’s Pan/Tilt, Dolly, Zoom, Roll and Crane through easy-to-use, on-screen throttle controls, or optionally using FrameForge’s Director Pad or any standard game pad.
So how do these three editions differ?
For a complete answer to that question, see our version comparison chart, but in short, while the Core Edition has a fully positionable sun and real-time shadows (as shown in the image above, which was created in the Core Version), only the Pro and Stereographic 3D versions allow you to add multiple lighting sources to a scene, including physical lighting fixtures, practical lights and free floating light sources.
And while all three editions allow you to optically match any camera in existence (now or in the future) from super 8 up to the latest IMAX® and HD marvels, it doesn’t have physical camera equipment, instead giving you free floating cameras. The Pro and Stereo editions, in contrast, have both free floating and physical cameras.
So, if you want to lay down dolly tracks or see if your equipment is going to fit into a tight corner without the end of a jib clipping a wall, you need to go Pro or Stereographic 3D.
Finally, as you probably guessed from the name, the Stereographic 3D edition adds the ability to prep shoots using stereographic rigs with the ability to view it in real-time stereographic 3D on-screen as you work using virtually any standard stereo display technology from anaglyph glasses with ANY screen, to side-by-side, checkerboard, alternating lines, or quad-buffered… and it even supports HD-SDI so you can drive a cinema projector real-time if you like. Use fully customizable 3D rigs, control your depth for your target screen size, and take control of the new medium that’s sweeping the face of the entertainment world.
FrameForge Previz Studio 3.5 comes with well over 1,000 World-Ready™ Objects that the actors know how to interact with.
We call them World-Ready™ because they function like their real-world counterparts. If an object has something that opens, twists, lifts or otherwise moves, it almost definitely does in FrameForge. And almost all of them are extremely customizable, everything from changing the color of a couch to removing the top of a convertible.
And they are all accessible from a simple drag’n’drop library, giving you everything you need to build exteriors, homes, offices, whatever. Searchable by name and organized in over 100 different categories, this library includes 76 fully posable actors in four ethnicities. These actors range from babies, children, teenagers to adults, and the adults can be aged from 20 to 60 years old.
They are also fully customizable, with hundreds of combinations of clothing, hairstyles, facial and body morphs, you can make every actor a real character in your movie.

But what if the object I need isn’t already in the FrameForge library?
We’ve got you covered.

Not only does FrameForge Previz Studio come with basic building blocks and hinges so you can create new objects directly in the program, but it can also import 3D objects saved in VRML, FBX (which is the standard export format for Maya®, 3DS Max® and many other 3D modeling programs), along with Sketchup® files, millions of which are freely available on the web (though the quality and usability of them can vary wildly).
Storyboards were invented back in the 1940s by Disney® to make their preproduction planning more useful…
Don’t you think it’s long past time that someone improved on the process?

Well, FrameForge users tell us we’ve done exactly that.
